Led Zeppelin on iTunes
Posted on: August 27, 2011
Led Zeppelin has finally come to an agreement with Apple to have their music sold digitally. Their catalog was made available on iTunes for the first time on November 13th, 2007. Up until that point in time, they had held out since practically the beginning of iTunes, and refused to allow their music to be sold on the site. The band started out under the name The Yardbirds, which changed in October 1968, around the time they recorded their first album. The album was self-titled and before 1968 was through, the band had landed their record deal with Atlantic Records. The three albums following their first were named simply Led Zeppelin II, Led Zeppelin III and Led Zeppelin IV. However, after that came the albums with names like Houses of the Holy and Presence.
Music
The band's style is very much heavy metal with the most unexpected of influences such as British Folk and world music. They rarely give interviews, as most of the music industry used to despise them. They also refused to release popular songs from their albums, to increase the popularity of the album itself, rather than have most of their songs go unnoticed. The band has one song that is by far their most popular, that being Stairway to Heaven.
